Well, this is the topic I thought of writing as my debut blog, However I couldn’t do justice to put the reasons behind the pen name I coined for myself, so I wrote about PG Wodehouse instead. Though the urge to write comes from within time to time, it never used to be very strong. Like a typical “Gemini”, I do something, plan for some other thing think of something else, so my sojourn in the realm of writing world was like passing clouds and my desired “Writely life” was always a short lived one so far.Like Birth and Death, Naming is also inevitable and out of our control. We are neither born nor named at will and the same goes with death most of the time. Though man has devoted to uncover the phenomena of birth by scientific reasoning and death by philosophical thoughts, he didn’t dwell much on the reason behind his name rather he fancied himself to create one and called it as Pseudonym or pen name, That’s how “Eric Arthur Blair” became “George Orwell”, “Charles Dodgson” became “Lewis Carol” and “Rajinish Chandra Mohan Jain” became “Osho”.
First thing I wanted to do, when I thought of writing was to coin a name for me. By this time I have returned from the “Neverland” after acquiring a degree, job, few best buddies and an “Alterego” and travelled some period in the real world (Corporate). So I started think about the event that happened so far, things I liked, books I read so on and so forth. Out of that, Dostoevsky’s main character in one of his famous book called Myshkin, somehow made a profound impact in my mind. Like all the famous movements that started in the world that lost the purpose they had started, I also vaguely remember why it made an impact in me since its not in my most my favorite book list though I liked it very much. It is called “Idiot” in Russian (since they don’t use definite article) and “The Idiot” in English.
Though I don’t qualify to be an Idiot by Dostoevsky’s standards in “Real Life”, I am somehow became confused with the ideologies of Ayn Rand, Osho and few others and adding to the fire, with my own ideologies as well. So I am not too naïve, like Myshkin. In the corporate world, however it’s a different story. The traits that gained me a good reputation in the “Real Life” didn’t help selling myself in the “Corporate Life” abounds with red tapes and political bureaucracies. I considered myself too naïve in this world. Thus I am christened myself with the name “The Corporate Idiot”, I have added “The” since I always wanted to achieve the best in life. “Best Idiot”, At last I did write a Paradox, Is that qualify to be a paradox??
Though years gave me the wisdom to survive in this world but still I like my Pseudonym. Though "Once an Idiot doesnt mean that always an Idiot", somehow names doesnt change as the person change, Right !!! So I still call (write) myself, "The Corporate Idiot"
Though I am using this name in the blogs, I have actually coined this name when I started writing on things I have read where the contents itself contribute the major share and shared with friends few years ago. If I find those stuff, I would like to read them and see how my views has changed. Lets see
Sometime back, these questions were posted to us and we were encouraged to pen down our thoughts. As usual, As soon as I saw these different thoughts started originating from the mind and started flowing like a fountain but as soon as I started typing... Well, Those who know me will know what happened after !!!! However I finally managed to break the ice and wrote down my thoughts. I hope its like the tip of iceberg and more is yet to be seen (My writings, Of course !!!)
