Ambigrams are words that looks same when seen at different orientations; unlike "Palindrome" that spells out same when written in reverse order (Like MalayalaM, LeveL, eve, MadaM), these words are written with the application of calligraphy and writing letters in unusual way but still retaining the letter's appearance intact. I fell in love with "Ambigrams" when I first read "Angels and Demons" by Dan brown and started writing my own small ones from then on and did some serious stuff last year when I was @ San Antonio, TX. The picture on the left is what I did, these are ambigrams that looks same when rotated 180 degrees. There are mirror image ambigrams, 3D Ambigrams and so far I think this is far easier for an amateur Ambigrammer (!!!).
Apart from firing up your imagination, its a good time pass too. Like puzzles, Playing with words like this or creating "anagrams" - creating as many as words from a main word or with numbers like Su do Ku keeps your mind and reasoning power agile.
Here are some ambigrams I have seen and liked from the "Internet".
BTW, my original post got deleted somehow so I have rewritten this and posted again.

The word "Ambigram" itself is written as an ambigram.

Hey that's a nice post! Interesting things, ambigrams. Liked the way "ambigram" has been written. But, requires quite a bit of calligraphic skills I guess
