The First Step

This was written pretty long ago; I guess around 8 years back, to my "God Daughter"; the one who taught me responsibility, patience, care and all affectionate feelings towards people. Its not my own thoughts to the core but a creation based on an article in "The Hindu" (I guess) that inspired me to write that with modifications that suits to my feelings. Later I even drew a picture of "A father and daughter" holding hands and the kid with a flower bunch on her other hand. Those are wonderful days !!! So here it goes ,,,

To take "The First Step"
is a frightening thing.
To face the unknown
the uncertainty in being
But like a child
who is tired of the crawl
The First Step is
The Most Important of all.

It expands your horizon;
You can see a new light.
The joy of discovery
is like taking a new flight
The first step you take
will open all doors,
To see yourself as
you have seen before.

And, like a child
who gives it, her all.
Sometimes your Father
You will totter and fall

But my strong arms are there
to catch you and then
They ll start you up back
to start walking again.

The journey is long,
take one step at a time.
But once you get going,
you ll just do fine
Take my hand, daughter
I ll help you along
I ll be right beside you
As two, We 'll be strong

Yes, The first step is a big one
The most important of all
But, I 'll be there to catch you
should you tether and fall
We 'll set our sights forward
Grit your teeth and walk on....
When we see the road ending

We '' break into a run.

I love you, I 'll help you
All the way through
But to take the first step,
Well... That's up to YOU.

To my wonderful little daughter !!!
Happy Times, dDy
